Independent.ie's match report from Tallaght Stadium, where Aidan Fitzmaurice watched Shamrock Rovers see off Derry City:

Read Daniel McDonnell's account from Richmond Park, as Shels left it late to maintain their title challenge:

Tonight's results mean Shelbourne have a four-point cushion at the top of the Premier Division. Derry City remain in second, with Shamrock Rovers two points further back following tonight's win.

The title race continues this Friday night as Shels travel to Tallaght Stadium, while Derry play at home to Sligo Rovers. Pat's are away to Bohemians, and Galway entertain Dundalk.

Before that, Waterford host Drogheda United on Thursday evening.

In the First Division, Wexford and Cobh Ramblers played out a 1-1 draw tonight. Mikie Rowe put the home side ahead on 43 minutes, but David Bosnjak pulled one back for Ramblers early in the second half.

Full-time: Shamrock Rovers 1-0 Derry City Aidan Fitzmaurice sums it up: Full time in Tallaght Stadium and with the 1-0 win it's the Rovers fans who go home happy, now planning for Friday's mouth-watering derby at home to leaders Shelbourne.

The 100-strong batch of Bayer Leverkusen fans in the 4,031 crowd were entertained by what they saw ahead of their team's Dublin date in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.

90 minutes have been played at Tallaght Stadium, with Shamrock Rovers still 1-0 up.

Full-time: St Patrick's Athletic 1-2 Shelbourne Incredible drama in Inchicore as Shelbourne rescue three points when it looked as those the game was set to finish all-square.

Shels score right at the death! Oh my days, there's been a goal deep in injury-time in the game between Shels and Pat's. Let Dan McDonnell fill you in:

Shelbourne have the lead! It looks like Evan Caffrey has bagged a winner at Richmond Park, a brilliant left footed effort that sparks wild scenes behind the goals and on the sideline with Damien Duff parading down the sideline in celebration and his goalkeeping coach Paul Skinner sent off after words were exchanged with the visiting bench.

The winning goal involved three Shels subs – Dean Williams and Tyreke Wilson combining for Caffrey to convert.

There will be at least six minutes of additional play in Inchicore. Pat's are playing for a second goal, Shels holding on.

Mulraney has another free-kick in a similar position, but drags it wide of the post on this occasion.

As Dan McDonnell reports, the league leaders have been somewhat under the cosh as the game draws to a close:

The goal has really shifted the momentum here with St Pat's sensing the opportunity to go looking for a winner. Stephen Kenny is about to bring Cian Kavanagh into the fray. Shels have not really threatened since losing their advantage.

At Tallaght Stadium, it is the home side who are on course for three points and Bradley has just made a double change. Here's Aidan Fitzmaurice:

Two more subs for Shamrock Rovers, Aaron Greene gets a run and Aaron McEneff comes on, against his hometown club.

22 minutes to play and Rovers still lead. Derry have been better since the half-time subs but have yet to really work Leon Pohls in the Rovers goal.

Pat's look to break through goalscorer Mulraney, and former Pat's defender Paddy Barrett opts to take him out with a body check on the halfway line.

The Waterford native deservedly goes into the referee's book.

Mulraney comes up with a peach of an equaliserThe home side have found a leveller from a set-piece at Richmond Park. Dan McDonnell has an update: Shane Farrell is about to be introduced by Damien Duff. "Where's your chicken fillet Farrell" is the predictable shout from a local fan.

But Pat's have levelled before he can be introduced! A superb free kick from Jake Mulraney, a left footer with a vicious dip that Kearns isn't able to get near.

Those Saints changes have left them open, as Dan McDonnell explains:

Pat's have made attacking subs but very vulnerable on the counter attack – and lucky Jarvis is off injured – Liam Burt almost doubles the lead from a really good break.

In inchicore, there are changes on both sides.

Shels midfielder John O'Sullivan makes way for Evan Caffrey. Kenny brings on 16-year-old Mason Melia and Alex Nolan for Brandon Kavanagh and Kian Leavy.

They're ready to restart in Tallaght and the Candystripes have made a switch, reports Aidan Fitzmaurice:

Derry City do react to that first half where they were lucky to only concede one goal, Sam Todd and Patrick McEleney on for the second half.

Shels come close to adding a second goal five minutes into the second half, but John O'Sullivan blazes over from close range after a long throw-in into the box is flicked on by the head of Boyd.

Saints midfielder Jamie Lennon then tries his luck from distance. His deflected effort is collected by Conor Kearns, however.

The second half has just started at Richmond. Pat's have brought Conor Keeley on for Anto Breslin, who picked up a knock.

No mention of the incident that led to Will Jarvis' injury on Virgin Media's half-time analysis. It will be interesting to see if Damien Duff has something to say about it after the final whistle.
