LATEST: Kildare routes still backed up as crash shuts M50 section
Road users on Kildare routes to Dublin are facing delays after a section of the M50 remains shut.
An Garda Síochána have issued a third update following a serious crash on the M50.
The N7, N4 and N81 routes into Kildare have all seen congestion since the incident.
The collision happened on the M50 between Junction 7, Lucan and Junction 6, Blanchardstown in the northbound direction just after 10am this Friday morning.
Emergency services and gardaí remain at the scene indefinitely, with major delays to be expected.
A Garda alert said: "We remain at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the M50.
"Delays are expected to continue this afternoon and into this evening.
"We ask motorists to take alternative routes if possible.
"Your patience and understanding is appreciated
"Motorists and evening commuters are advised to avoid the area if possible and take alternative routes."
