The City boss stayed on the pitch after full-time to give animated advice to striker Erling Haaland - who scored a brace on the day.

While doing punditry for Sky Sports, Keane pointed it out and claimed Guardiola was putting on a show for the cameras.

Keane advised: "Get down the tunnel, enjoy your victory."

Now, the esteemed City boss has hit back at the former Ireland captain's comments.

Guardiola said: "I respect a lot Roy Keane. Sometimes I finish the game and go inside, sometimes I stay there.

"When I find a player we chat about the game. I know the camera is there.

"At that moment I was outside, wanted to (celebrate) with the fans, especially away. For the fans United is an important game.

"We chatted about the second goal, the miss for the last minute (of the first half) with the (Andre) Onana action. He could be better, stronger."

Guardiola also went on to say that he has no plans on what he decides to do after the final whistle blows.

He added: "Maybe Roy is right but it happens. I don’t need at my age to do something for the people.

"Sometimes I go inside, sometimes say hi to the referees. It’s what I feel in the moment.

"I don’t think after the game to go to the players to do some spectacle for the people.

"I could have done it inside, of course. I've done it many times in the locker room - look at that image, that action.

"It's fresh, the players have that image in the moment. Sometimes you make the impact that remains here (in the head)."

Keane did not limit his criticism to just Guardiola after the match as he launched a blistering attack on Bruno Fernandes about the Man United captain's performance.

CAPTAIN CRITICISM

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher highlighted Erik ten Hag's decision to make the 29-year-old captain.

He said: "Bruno Fernandes should be not be a captain, we're sat with two [former] Manchester United captains (Keane and Gary Neville)."

Keane then offered his own analysis on the matter.

He said: "After today and having watched him again I would definitely take the captaincy off him. 100 per cent.

"I know it's a big decision, obviously he changed the captaincy with [Harry] Maguire, but Fernandes is not captain material."

Keane continued: "I think he's a talented player no doubt about it.

"But what I saw from him today; his whinging, his moaning, he's throwing his arms up in the air constantly, it really isn't acceptable.

"And what we saw today, I would take it off him.

"Cause we're talking about making changes, you have to start somewhere whether it's board level, managers, I would start with that because the manager is capable of doing that and holding his hands up and saying 'listen I got it wrong'.

"In terms of captain material, he's the opposite to what I would want in a captain."
