Status Orange weather warning for County Waterford

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange weather warning for Counties Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford with heavy and persistent rain forecast, with the possibility of thundery downpours.

The warning comes into effect from 4am on Monday, October 23, until 4am Tuesday, October 24.

Met Éireann said the possible impacts of the weather could include flooding, dangerous travel conditions and poor visibility. The warning was issued on Sunday.

In addition to that warning, counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Galway were also issued with a Status Yellow warning with heavy rain forecast along with the possibility of thunder.

There could be localised flooding and difficult travel conditions.

The warning, which came into effect on Sunday, October 22, will remain place until 6pm this evening, Monday, October 23. A similar Status Yellow warning was also issued for counties Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Roscommon and will remain in place until 4am on Tuesday, October 24.
